Contemporary studio artist Robyn Palescandolo works in oil paint, watercolor, pencil, and charcoal to render sharp chiaroscuro images. She experiments with both classical and modern techniques in a deliberately slow process, building complex visual depth and rendering subjects that are sometimes startlingly real. Fruit, objects, landscapes, and the human figure are taken out of their usual contexts, and inserted into an undefined imaginary environment — a place the defies space and time.
